Warthogs Paint

Our Thunder Cake is frosted, and ready to be sampled after lunch.

Meanwhile, we're passing the time, with some splishy, splashy, color mixing, fun, thanks to Pamela Duncan Edwards' Warthogs Paint, and Magical Mama's recipe for Wacky Water Colors.

Mix together:

  • 3 Tablespoons Baking Soda
  • 3 Tablespoons Corn Starch
  • 3 Tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Light Corn Syrup
  • and food color

We're using the paint while it's still wet today, but when allowed to dry, it makes a very nice, water color paint.

And, it's great for mixing into all sorts of colors.

For more story stretching activities, including another for Warthogs Paint, be sure to check out this week's story + art link up at A Mommy's Adventures.

It's great to be a homeschooler.

Both books look very interesting, and I love the recipe for watercolor paint. So far I've been very disappointed with the watercolors that I bought in Dollar stores - the colors are completely muddy. Your children paintings look very vibrant, and the cake sounds very yummy!

We enjoyed this book and baking too for our stART project! I love the rainbows made from the homemade watercolor paints. I can't wait to try out the paint recipe :0)

Thank you for linking up to stART!!

We love the book Thunder Cake. I've never tried the recipe before though. How was it? It looked great and they certainly looked like they enjoyed themselves.

It wasn't bad. If I hadn't known it had tomato in it, I probably wouldn't have guessed, but knowing it was there, made it harder to enjoy, than I thought it would :)

Had no idea I could make my own watercolors. Must bookmark Magical Mama's recipe for a later date. Beautiful rainbows, by the way.

Making your own watercolors, how cool is that?

LOL, yes, it was the tomato that has prevented me from making it too. Maybe we'll have to try it later this summer (our rainy season). Thanks!
