Today, the Man of the House, and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary. I agree with Valerie - bacon is good. But then, a plate of fresh baked cookies now and then, doesn't hurt a marriage, either.
The Man of the House is especially fond of fresh baked, chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately for him, with six children in the house, and with homeschooling, and blogging, fresh baked cookies, all for himself, can be hard to come by.
His usual drill now, before he snatches a cookie, sitting temptingly on the counter, is to ask:
- Are these part of a lesson?
- Is there one for me?
- Have you already done the photo shoot?
And, if the answers to all of these leads him to believe it's safe to actually eat one, then there's one more pause, with an, "Um...what's in them?" He's really never gotten over the whole dandelion cookie incident.
So, for Father's Day, the children are mixing up a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough...
...to roll and freeze...
...in a container with a wax paper covered note at the bottom, promising an unending supply of cookies to come.
Now, the Man of the House, will have a stash of safe, and secret ingredient free cookies, ready in only 10-12 minutes, to enjoy hot from the oven, whenever he likes, minus the six I commandeered to have ready for him, today. No reason I can't kill two birds with one stone, right?
It's great to be a homeschooler.

LOL! I love how you described the process he goes through before he feels free to eat a cookie. LOL
Happy 20th!
Fabulous idea! Would you ever consider baking them and having them ready in 30 seconds? We freeze our cookies...just in a ziplock bag, no extra wrapping required (unless they are whoopie pies or such). Anyway, we take them out and eat them frozen, but some people like to nuke them to warm them a bit...and make them gooey. :)
Happy 20th!!!!! I still giggle about the dandelion cookies! I love all of the questions he asks before taking a cookie! I'll have to make some dough to freeze - my husband is also a fan of the chocolate chip cookie!
Happy 20th!
Jeff's not much of a sweet tooth, okay he does but he tries not to...... I'm more likely to make and eat the cookies or the dough.
What a great idea.
That is such a great idea for a kid made gift. I am so adding it to our list. Thank you for sharing!
Congratulations on your 20th Anniversary as well. What a HUGE accomplishment, and a wonderful example.
