Wordless Book Valentine - Sunday School Craft

After I cut out all the foam hearts the other day, the girls wanted to make a heart craft. I thought maybe some wordless book Valentines, for them to take to Sunday school, would be fun.

They cut 12 hearts, 2 each of yellow, black, blue, red, white, and green.

They sat one yellow, and one green aside, and then glued a yellow back to back with a black, a black to a blue, a blue to a red, a red to a white, and a white to a green.

They folded the yellow heart in half, and then glued it to the left hand side of the yellow heart, that had the black on the back.

They folded those hearts in half (so the black was on the outside), and glued them to the left hand side of the black heart, that had the blue on the back.

They continued folding, and gluing, blue to blue...

...red to red...

...white to white...

...and green to green...

...until the book was ready to "read".

Don't know the story of the wordless book? You can find it (and the verses to go along with it) here, from the Berean Bible Teachers.
But basically it's:
  • Yellow for heaven - where we'd all like to go.
  • Black for sin, breaking God's law - that keeps us from going there.
  • Blue for repentance (not all wordless books include that one, but I like to use it with 2 Corinthians 7:10) - when your sorry about the sin.
  • Red for redemption - the penalty has been paid for us.
  • White for justification - just as if we hadn't sin.
  • and Green for growing - which is what to do next.

It's great to be a homeschooler.

Your girls are quite patient to stick with the project like this. I read your title several times before I realized that it's misspelled :)

The youngest two are in a real glue stick phase right now - so it was a good project for them.

Thanks for pointing out the title - I can't tell you how many times I mispelled it while writing the post. I wonder what a worldless valentine would look like?

I love this idea. My kids are all teenagers, but I'm loving browsing though all the crafty things for littles. =)
