Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting - A Favorite Family Fallback

The man of the house has a birthday this weekend, and friends showed up from out of town tonight, so a little impromptu celebration seemed in order. Which, in our house means chocolate cake with chocolate peanut butter frosting - our favorite frosting fallback.

It's a tasty combo, that never fails to please. It's quick, and easy to make, and we almost always have the ingredients on hand.

So, from our house to yours...

Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 2 cups chunky peanut butter

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of milk (depending on how thick you want your frosting)

Cream together the sugar, peanut butter, and cocoa. Stir in the vanilla, and then milk, adding a little at a time, until you have the consistency desired.

This frosting works great with any chocolate cake (German chocolate, chocolate fudge, double chocolate, etc.) whether it is from scratch, or a cake mix. It is also a very tasty treat served on graham crackers, with a nice big glass of milk.

It's great to be a homeschooler.

Thanks for sharing a yummy recipe! It will be fun to try. Anything that combines PB and chocolate gets my vote.

great, I'm always looking for a frosting that doesn't include margerine or butter! I might try this with soy milk as well.
check out my blog http://www.creativejewishmom.com for a great simple chocolate cake recipe to go with this icing! (and lots of great projects for crafty homeschoolers!)
