Boredom Buster - Milk Jug Scoop Ball

Some of the best boredom busters out there are the old tried and true ideas, like this one that I was reminded of by www.inklesstales.com/crafts/milk_jug_scoop/index.shtml. It provides a surprising amount of fun, for it's simplicity.

Just cut the bottom off of a couple of washed out milk jugs, and apply a little tape along the cut edge, to avoid cuts. I like to make the edge opposite the handle a little higher if I can, for a better scoop. Eventually, we plan to make one for each child, but this weekend I only had two empty jugs, so that's what we started with.

Add a lightweight ball, or beanbag, and your ready to play. We rolled up an old pair of socks, and secured them in place with some masking tape. The ball shouldn't be too hard, or it might damage the milk jugs (not to mention little heads).

Younger children can throw the ball by hand, and catch with the jug. Older children can use the jugs to fling the ball to their partner too. It might take a few tries to get the hang of, but after that - it's pure fun.

It's great to be a homeschooler.

Fantastic! We will definitely try this. I am waiting to use milk jugs for our water balloons too! Drink that milk, kids, we need empty milk jugs!
