I was sorting through the children's coloring drawer, getting ready to toss some of the giant piles of scribbled on paper.
I have a box, where I keep samplings of the children's artwork, from their various stages, after I add their names, and a rough date. But, there is a lot of artwork, and I'm not crazy enough to keep it all.
Even so, I didn't have the heart to toss any, last night.
So instead, I cut some of them out, and glued them, with stick glue, to refrigerator magnets I've saved...
...from the back of coupons, and business cards, or off of those community directories from the phone books.
Then, I cut them out again, and put them to work on my refrigerator. Where, they can continue to make me smile, for a while.
They're not the best magnets in the world, but several of them together will hold up a sheet of paper, or a picture. And, I'm pretty sure the younger children will enjoy them as a play set, when they're not holding up pictures, or notes.
I'm thinking a similar set of magnets, with small, self-portraits by the children, might make a nice child-made, Father's Day gift, for the Man of the House, to use for holding memos on his office fridge.
It's great to be a homeschooler.

Ooohhhh good idea. I've been meaning to do the same with artwork but hadn't yet. Jeff would love the gift
What a cute idea, and I LOVE the Father's Day idea!
That's a great idea.
That's a really great idea for the Father's day gift! Except my hubby would never put them up at his work. Maybe I should do it for my Dad. Are you going to show us how to do it?
Marcee - That was how to do it - cut out the drawings - glue them to the thin magnets, on the non-magnetic side, with stick glue (like the kids use) - cut them out again, the thin magnets cut realy easy - and you're done!
I struggle with getting rid of any of my childrens creations. I am all for repurposing them.
It's such a neat idea to use your children's artwork to make magnets.
I need to get some of that magnet art for my drawers at work - great idea!
