The Whimsy Love give away we received earlier this week sparked the girls interest for Betsy McCall paper dolls. We've been printing, and clipping everyone we can find. In the process we also came across these cute puppets, in a printable Betsy McCall collection from 1957.
Of course, we had to make them a home.
I cut a rectangle out of the top of a shoe box, for the puppets to drop down through, and a slit in the side, near the back, to slip scenery cards through.
The scenery cards, were just pieces of card stock, cut to fit the box, with a tab, taped on, to make them easy to slip in and out.
The girls drew the various scenes, arranged them in order, and then slipped then into the box, so they could be pulled out one at a time, as the scene changed.
Then, while I read the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story, they performed the action with the puppets.
Even the little ones got in on the action. And, now they want more blank scenery cards, so they can draw, and act out, "the rest of the story".
It's great to be a homeschooler.
