We molded the dough around our fingers, and baked it on low (160 degrees Fahrenheit) for a few hours, until it seemed pretty dry.
Then we added a some paint. I mixed up a fresh batch of homemade water color paint (look back a few posts for the recipe), and using it while it was still wet worked pretty well.
Once the paint had dried, we glued on googly eyes, and pom poms, and we had ten little monsters, ready for show time. I doubt these puppets will prove to be really durable, but the kids had quite a bit of fun making them. So, if they make it through even a couple of plays, I think we'll consider them a success. If your interested in these, you might want to check out www.scribbit.blogspot.com/2009/06/paintable-finger-puppets.html, they made some that were similar, and a good inspiration to us too.
It's great to be a homeschooler.
