First Snow

We had our first snow, yesterday.  It didn't last long, or stick to the ground.

But, the flakes fell all morning.  Long enough for the girls to enjoy, with mugs of hot chocolate to keep them warm...

...while they waited for the gingerbread scones to come out of the oven (they were tastier than they looked).

When the children were younger, we always had a Gingerbread Man unit study on the first real snow of the year.   They've grown past the study for the most part now, but still enjoy looking back through the picture books, and decorating gingerbread men - which we will probably do once we get a real, sticking snow.  For now, it was scones, and whipped cream with hot chocolate, and a nice afternoon together in a warm kitchen, watching the last of the first snow melt away.

Wow! The first snow already. The gingerbread scones sound lovely. They grow up so fast. I have seen some traditions drift away recently.

My family now wants snow. :) I think they think they will get gingerbread scones and hot chocolate. Sounds absolutely wonderful, but it is in the 70's here still.

Gingerbread scones sound delicious! I have bookmarked the recipe. Thank you! With snow so early in the season, I imagine you have very cold winters where you live. Snow is a big novelty for us.

I would take a gingerbread scone without the snow- I feel cold from looking at it! ;)

Ooh yes - gingerbread scones! I've never made them but having made Welsh Cakes for the first time yesterday, gingerbread scones are next on my list! It suddenly became very wintery here in England this week, too. Good weather for baking and cocoa!

Snow?! It was 80 degrees here today. I think I prefer something in-between the two. :-)

Wow! Snow already! We are still enjoying 80 degree weather here, can you believe that for the coast of WA?

DO you ever get a little sad when they outgrow the preschool fun? I do- for a moment- and then remember all the cool challenges that are yet to come...

NO WAY! We have still over 80 during the day! Waiting hopefully for rain next week.
