Remember the pop bottle bird feeder the children made, at the end of March?
And, the little goldfinches, that arrived in our neighborhood, last week?
Well, they finally found each other.
It was a great sight for D to wake up to, as his sisters rushed into his room, stage whispering, "Look out the window!"
It's great to be a homeschooler.
How neat! Definitely a great success. Anna has made a simple cheerio bird feeding necklace at school and was very excited when squirrels feasted on it. Birds never got a chance.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! We need to make one of those. We're still waiting for the hummingbirds to arrive as we've had the feeder for some time.

ReplyDeleteWe made those (using Apologia science) back in the late summer. We had lots of birds visiting but the problem came when the birds couldn't get to the seeds in the bottom of the bottle. Yuck! The girls had a great time making them though and we enjoyed the birds that came to visit. We also made suet and that feeder is emptied all the time. We just put our last frozen suet in so its time to make more!
ReplyDeleteBecky - Yes, after we made ours, I found it in a kids nature book, where they suggested filling the part under the feeding holes with paper towls, to keep the seeds from filling in that part - I thought that was a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I have to admit that I am not fond of bird feeders because the birds leave behind a mess - I know that is terrible of me. I just wish they could do their business elsewhere! Maybe if we had a bigger yard or some woods behind us, I wouldn't mind.
