The older girls are getting ready for a camping trip with the Man of the House, but the little ones will be staying home.
So, they won't feel totally left out, I let them help put together a camping stand-by for our snack tonight.
Banana Boats
Bananas
Chocolate Chips
Marshmallows
Peanut Butter
Tinfoil
A sharp knife
A baking pan, big enough to hold all of the bananas.
Slit the bananas open.
Slit the bananas open.
Fill with marshmallows, chocolate chips, and peanut butter.
Wrap in tinfoil, and place on the hot coals of a campfire, until the chocolate melts, or in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven, for 15 minutes.
Carefully unwrap, and enjoy.
They taste the very best when eaten in a tent under the stars, but they weren't too bad in a Super Fort in the kitchen, either.
It's great to be a homeschooler.
You are the coolest mom ever.
ReplyDeleteCool, Thanks
ReplyDeleteToo cute!!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this before. I admit that all ingredients sound very yummy to me without any baking :) How neat that your oldest will get to enjoy some quality time with daddy.
ReplyDeleteYum! That looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteMy 6 y/o wants to do the whole thing, esp. eating in the SuperFort!
ReplyDeleteOh-my-word- that sounds like heaven to me...
ReplyDeleteWow... It brought back my own childhood experiences...
ReplyDeleteThose banana boats look so good, I might just have to try them tonight! That’s so thoughtful of you to get your little girls to make them with you so that they don’t feel left out while their big sisters go camping. Especially since preparing and eating food together teaches kids important skills such as teamwork, math, and following instructions. I work for the Healthy Monday campaigns, which just started a new program called The Kids Cook Monday that encourages families to cook and eat together. Research shows that kids who eat family meals are less likely to be obese, develop communication skills, and consume a more nutritious diet. You should try the Honey Baked Apple Towers, another fun fruit dessert that’s featured on our website: http://www.healthymonday.org/the-kids-cook-monday/honey-baked-apple-towers/
ReplyDeleteWe’re looking for families to participate in our new program by cooking meals together each Monday and sharing their experience on their blogs. If you’re interested in getting involved, please email me at TheKidsCookMonday@gmail.com. Thanks!
