Baseball and Apple Crumble

My in-laws are in town this week, and the children have been packing six months worth of sharing, and showing off into the few days we have with them.

As part of the "showing off", T made an apple crumble for tonight's dessert. He took the recipe from the back of Deborah Turney Zagwyn's Apple Batter, the story of one boys quest to improve his batting ability, and his mother's dream to harvest an apple off her own trees. A dream, I'm beginning to relate to myself.

You can view the recipe, and a number of batting tips, on Amazon's preview feature of the book (click here, to see it).

We found the crumble, a mixture of buttered bread crumbs, lemon juice, apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon, pretty tasty. Though, I think I prefer the texture of an apple crisp.

As for the batting tips...
...they worked pretty well on the Wii. But then Wii baseball, isn't exactly about technique.

It's great to be a homeschooler.

  4. Maybe he has a future as a chef, he's been cooking quite a lot recently.
I think maybe we'll get the Wii out here today and play some games.
