"If Candlemas day be sunny and bright, winter will have another flight: if Candlemas day it be showre and rain, winter is gone, and won't come again." - old English proverb
It's Candlemas day (I think), and it's not sunny and bright. Or, more to the point it's Marmot's Day (that's Groundhog's Day to all you non-Rocky Mountain folk), and our marmot didn't see it's shadow. So, supposedly, spring is on it's way.
We do have less snow, and ice than we did yesterday, but I don't think I'll pack up the tuques and parkas just yet though (and no, we don't actually call them that here - but doesn't it sound wintry?). Spring doesn't generally hit Montana until after Mother's Day.
Then again, maybe this is the year the global warming gurus finally get their say!
It's great to be a homeschooler.
Oh yeah! I was wondering... we are calling the groundhog after dinner. :) I can tell spring is going to be early this year. We had SUN today. Real sun, like out in your shirtsleeves looking at all the tiny green leaves poking through the brownery. That kind of sun. Spring is coming... and thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteSnow through Mother's Day is yet another reason to not be in Montana. The others are related to it, being that there is snow on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteBut, that looks like a fun activity.
Please, oh please tell me where you found that ground hog craft!! We're doing a groundhog theme/shadow day at our coop on on Friday, that would be a cute craft!!
