Fancy Up Plain Hair Bands With Felt Scrap Pom-Poms

To make these cute felt pom-pom hair bands, start by making a couple of felt pom-poms. It's a great way to use up the scraps of felt left over after bigger projects. I came across the idea for these at the Creative Jewish Mom site. She actually has a number of felt projects worth checking out.

I used 6o to 70 strips of felt for each pom-pom, cut 1/8'' wide, and about 2 1/2'' long. I stacked them into a bundle, and tied them tightly around the middle with a piece of white yarn, leaving a long tail for tying them to the hair bands. Then, I puffed out the felt, and trimmed them evenly (or somewhat evenly).

Once you've made the pom-poms, all that is left, is to tie them to a couple of hair bands...

...and find someone to wear them. Giving that someone a straight part is, obviously, optional.

It's great to be a homeschooler.

  1. HOw fun and cute. Again I'm left wishing that Princess could keep anything in her hair for longer than 2 minutes.
