I would have never thought of this. I admit that even though I understand the rules perfectly, negative numbers were always very abstract to me. Unfortunately, I could feel that twinge in my stomach - the math twinge - while reading this post. I was always good at math (honors classes) but it made my stomach turn, I hated it. It still turns my stomach. I'm trying to keep that fact hidden from my kids.Christy Killoranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07159841014641280973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-598841562237715955.post-35166506037437034892010-08-29T22:06:25.448-07:002010-08-29T22:06:25.448-07:00um.... Putting it in terms of temperature helped me to understand why. :) On a side note - my most elaborate "showing" studies on math were never appreciated by my son. He always had them figured out before I finished explaining, then never used my handy hand made tool . . . . sigh.Pebblekeeper ~ Angiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04792217890092486144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-598841562237715955.post-42004202657034258282010-08-29T19:45:38.405-07:002010-08-29T19:45:38.405-07:00Love this! It would be cool to show this on the thermometer as well...how temperature goes up or down depending on whether heat is added or taken away. Thanks for this though.
